Part 2 - Splash Pages

This is the second part in the series of traffic and referral building.

Most of you are familiar with splash pages, they are generally what you see if you are involved in any traffic exchanges or click sites. They are a one page gateway to a website or blog.

Why Use A Splash Page

Sometimes sites aren't allowed to have traffic directed straight to their blog or site for fear of breaking the Terms of Use with their advertisers. This creates the need for a splash page. The other reason to use a splash page is to promote a program that may not have a front page that describes it well enough. Or maybe the program does not have a good splash page, so you want to create one that you think would appeal to people more.

The point of a splash page is to make it memorable and make all the information available in one quick view. Remember, people are using a traffic exchange for the same reason as you, to gain exposure. You need something that sets you apart from the crowd that makes clickers want to find out more. Two weeks ago I would not have suggested using traffic exchanges to promote a program because I only ever used generic pages. Now that I'm using a personalized splash page, I am receiving clicks about 4% of the time the link is shown.

I used TE Toolbox to create my Splash Page. It was really easy to create one. They make it really simple to set it up and then they show you how many times it has been exposed and how many clicks you have received. Click here to see my splash page I designed for the Free Online Cash System.

TE Toolbox
allows you to create up to 5 Pages so then you can have five campaigns and see which one is performing best, and use that one, or only advertise in that spot. To start using TE Toolbox, click here.

Stay tuned for my next entry when I will discuss traffic exchanges and how to best benefit from them using your splash page.
